My Squat Plan, Pursuit RX Whey, and Good Eats

I mentioned a Squat Plan yesterday and realized after the fact that I haven’t talked about it yet.
So here’s some background: M created a 5 week Squat Plan for me that I started this past week. Each week consists of 3 workouts that I can spread out however I want. At the end of the 5 week period, I’ll reassess my 1RM back squat and hopefully PR!
Today, I did Week 1, Day 3′s workout. It consisted of 8×3 back squats at 80% of my 1RM.
I used a mixture of lbs and kgs totaling 149#.
OMG, this workout was no joke. I thought I would bang it out in 30 minutes but it took me close to an hour because I rested so much between sets. I questioned whether I would finish the last two sets but managed to get through them. That’s how hard this was for me. If you’re looking for a good back squat workout, try this out!
Before the back squats, I participated in a class prepping people for Alpha Warrior, an obstacle course event that’s going down next weekend.
It was a lot of fun! The ring swing was my favorite. All the movements took me back to being a little kid having fun on the playground.
Right after the squats, I fueled myself with a protein shake.
It was my first time trying Pursuit RX whey and I’m a fan.
Pros: It mixes really well with water alone. No chunks or anything.
It tastes pretty good – kind of a like a thin chocolate milk.
Cons: Can’t think of anything!
I think it tastes a lot better than W Fit protein powders I’ve been taking over the last week or so.
Meals have been fun.
Last night’s dinner was lettuce roll ups with chicken.
And farro, romaine, zucchini, and bell peppers.
YUM! It’s amazing how much of a difference cooking farro in stock makes. It’s so much more flavorful.
Today’s lunch was chicken + pancake.
Ate most of the chicken while the pancake was cooking.
Tonight’s dinner was something I’ve been craving for awhile – fish!
Swai fillets to be exact.
Cooked simply with seafood seasoning and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
I ate it over a bed of romaine and zucchini with asian ginger dressing.
A glass of vino to wash it all down.
It’s my first time trying Rex-Goliath and I quite like it. It has a light sweetness and goes down smoothly.
I think it’s a bit strong with seafood but since the swai was so rich, it worked out ok.
Your Turn: What have you been craving lately?
