PR City (aka The Final Day of Lift Big Eat Big)

Today is been flying by and I am a-ok with that. ;-) I woke up super early, as in 6:30am, but I stayed in bed for a few hours before getting my act together and heading to the gym.
I’ve been excited for today because it’s the final day of the Lift Big Eat Big program (I’ve been following for the past 3 months), which meant going for max attempts of the snatch, clean and jerk, and back squat.
At the start of the program, my 1 RM for each exercise looked like this:
Snatch – 85#
Clean & Jerk – 120
Back Squat – 200
Today, I got:
Snatch – 95#
Clean & Jerk – 125
Back Squat – 195
I tried to get 205# for my back squat but it wasn’t meant to be. While I’m disappointed by that, I’ll try again when my legs are fresh and see what happens.
Since I was able to clean 135# for the first time ever today, I decided to do a few more clean attempts. I’m happy to say I got 145#!
Before and After Pictures
At the start of the program, I took before pictures to see how my body changed (or didn’t) as I lifted heavier.
Overall, I’m a few lbs heavier, my midsection is a bit thicker, and my arms are bigger. Those seem to be the biggest changes so it’s not too drastic. That’s even better in my opinion since I want to be able to lift heavier without getting much bigger.
Thoughts about LBEB’s 12 Week Olympic Weightlifting Program
I loved it! I really enjoyed the progress I made, but I also enjoyed the process.
I looked forward to each day’s workout, especially the ones that left me gassed. I developed a love/hate relationship with 1.25 squats in particular. I loved seeing the progress I was making with each cycle. A perfect example is the 1.25 squats; the first time I tried to do them, I had to drop the weight by about 30# in order to complete the sets. By the last cycle, I was able to complete each set at the prescribed weight.
I liked that this program consisted of 3 workouts each week. I was able to do a LBEB workout every other day, and do my own thing on ‘off ‘days. In a nutshell, it was flexible, which is nice.
I have been loving lifting lately and this program has only intensified my love for lifting heavy. I’m excited to continue my progress!
For the next week or two, I’m going to go for more 1 RMs and try to hit everything – overhead squat, front squat, the presses, maybe even weighted pull ups?
In terms of programming, I really liked having a plan to follow, so I’m on the lookout for another one. I want to work on gymnastics skills too. I’ve been getting a little better at handstands so while I’m making progress, I want to devote more time to other gymnastics movements.
I also want to continue lifting heavy. Not sure what I want to concentrate on just yet. As a general rule of thumb, I need to
continue start incorporating more conditioning. Whenever I do a short metcon, I feel absolutely gassed so I know I need to do more of them.
Have you ever followed a lifting/running/singing/etc program? Which one? Did you like it?
What is the most amount of PRs you got in one day?
